Golf Notes 25/7/22 – 31/7/22
Veterans:
Boonah Vets travelled to Beaudesert last Monday for the local club’s Vets ‘ Open day, with more than 70 players from a range of clubs. The men’s winner was Don Bass (40 pts) while Boonah’s Ellen Meagher won a prize for the best visiting lady player. Due to the public holiday on Monday 8 August, that comp will revert to a single stableford. The Boonah Vets Open Day will be on Monday 22 August.
Ladies:
This week the ladies were sponsored by L Gurnett, playing a stableford competition. The winner was S Grace ocb from runner up B Dover with 38 pts. The pin shot on 8/17 was won by B Dover. D Kuhnemann & L Reinholdsson received balls in the run down. This week will a single stroke/monthly medal competition sponsored by Scenic Rim Trophies.
Sporters:
Wednesday the Sporters were sponsored by G Searle playing a stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition. The winner was M Gray with 30 pts, runner up was G Eviston with 26 pts. The ball run down went to D Forsyth with 25 pts and A Stick with 24 pts. Pin shots were received by D Forsyth on 4 & 8, while T Alchin received 9. The Dugandan Dice winner was A Stick with 5 Aces. This week will be sponsored by M Gray & BMK Kalbar playing a stableford 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition. Next week will be the Wally Woolgar Trophy sponsored by his family, playing a stroke 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition.
Saturday:
Saturday we played the 2nd round of the Championships playing a stroke competition, sponsored by Asahi Beverages. The winner was J Grimsey with 70 net, runner up J McGrath ocb from I Pocock also ocb with 71 net. The ladies winner was B Dover with 63 net, runner up T Reid Pocock 72 net, followed by E Meagher with 74 net. The ball run down went to P Eggenhuizen 71 net, B Freiberg & K Sawtell 72 net, G Hunt, N Pellin, B Philp & W Hill 73 net, followed by A Gill, G Grimsey & G Philp 74 net, and A Bennett, W Martin, B Brown, L Blunt & P Dadds 75 net. Pin shots were received by N Pellin & Z Eviston on 4/13, S Lutter & S McKenzie received 8/17 while J Gurney received 9/18. The Mens 3rd shot on 3/12 was won by G Hunt while the Ladies 3rd shot on 5/14 was won by A Tomlinson. This week end will be the Darvall cup sponsored by D Forsyth, M O’Reilly & J Gillett playing a stroke/monthly medal competition, this will be the next round of the Bi Rite Challenge. Sunday will be day 2 of The Darvall Cup sponsored by Drummond Golf West Burleigh.
Sunday:
Sunday we played the Mixed Foursome Championships. The Champions for 2022 are J Browning & J Pfingst with 120 off the stick, runners up were P McNiven & A Brown with 124. The net winners were J Browning & J Pfingst with 102¾, runners up were B Lawrance & S Reid with 107½. The run down went to G & Z Eviston 109¼, P McNiven & A Brown 109¾, S Bailey & S Grace 110¼ and A Heit & K Turner 114¼. This week will be the 2nd round of the Darvall Cup. Sunday the 7th our B Grade Pennants team will play Rosewood while our A Grade will start on the 14th playing Sandy Gallop. We wish you all the best for these days.
