Golf Notes 2/4/18 – 8/4/18

Ladies
Thanks to Nicki at Glen’s Diner for sponsoring our golf day last week. We had a very good field of 16 players including a past member and now a visitor from Gailes, Laraine Gurnett. Winner of the monthly medal and the voucher from Glen’s Diner was Jan Edwards with a net 71 and she also had the least number of putts. Runner-up was Jill Pfingst on 72, next was Linda Edwards and Jo McAntee 74, Linda Hooke and Di Kuhnemann 75, Marg Kuhnemann 76, Maureen Maynard 79 and the others who played were Ellen Meagher, Jan Baulch, Anne Brown, Lesley Rhodes (9 holes) Juleen Sippel, Jenny Briant and Meryl Tress. Jan E and Meryl both had a chip in, Linda Edwards and Ellen won the pin shots. Wednesday we play for Maureen Maynard’s trophy and next week Di Kuhnemann is the trophy donor. Our past member and long-time committee member Shelagh Zimmer has passed away and on May 30th the ladies will be having a lunch in her memory so any past ladies who would like to join us that day, please contact Maureen our President. Anzac Day there will be no ladies competition, instead there will be a 9 hole shot gun start at 1.00 pm. Good golfing and may all your putts fall in!.

Sporters
Wednesday the Sporters’ was sponsored by A Gill playing a stroke 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition. The winner was B Davey with 44 net, runner up N Hooke ocb from W Gnech & K Kirgis with 45 net. The run down continued with R Fitzgerald, K Rhodes & L Blunt 47 net, followed by A Featherstone & D Forsyth 48 net and W Hall & R Scells 49 net. Pin shots were received by S Edwards on 4, 8 was received by G Parker while J Freiberg received 9. The best gross for the day was received by W Gnech with 49 off the stick. The dice sponsored by the Dugandan Hotel was received by R Fitzgerald. This week will be sponsored by Far Outdoors Boonah playing a stableford 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition. Next week will be sponsored by W Wieland & A Stick playing a 4BBB stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition.

Friendly Friday
We had 19 players tee off for Friendly Friday, playing a stroke back 9 competition. The winner was J Handley with 29 net, runner up B King 30 net followed by M Crowther 33 net ocb. The ball rundown went to A & B Brown 33 net, M Hassan & B May 34 net followed by P Cooper 36 net. The pinshot was received by A Brown while K Kirgis received the NAGA.

Saturday
Saturday was sponsored by Oppy’s Fruit & Veg playing a stroke/monthly medal competition. The winner was J Shine ocb from runner up M Hassan with 68 net. The Ladies winner was J McAntee with 71 net, runner up Z Eviston with 75 net ocb. The ball run down went to B Frieberg & J Yates 69 net, A Bennett, R Fitzgerald, N Toohey, P King & K Sawtell 71 net, followed by M Dickson, J Handley, S Francis & G Parker 72 net and S Fahey, L Vandenbrink, B King, P McNiven, M O’Reilly, A Featherstone & D Gittins 73 net. Pin Shots were received by D Gittins & J McAntee on 4/13, J Nunan & J McAntee received 8/17 while B May received 9/18. The pro pin on 4 is sponsored by Drummond Golf. Sunday
The “Mechanics in Boonah” Chook Run is open to anybody wanting to play 9 holes of golf on Sundays. This week the Chook Run was won by W Brantjes with 25 pts, runner up J Lye with 20 pts. The run down went to J Rides, B Gnech, S Wrigley, S Bennett, A Bennett & M Simmonds. The ntp was received by A Bennett. Chookie of the day was S Bennett. This week, booking will be essential as we have 2 Social Clubs teeing off at 7.30 & 8 am, there may be some buggies available in the morning. Ring the club for further details.
