Golf Notes 10/8/20 – 16/8/20

Veterans:

Monday the Veterans played a 4BBB stableford competition, for the Boonah v Ipswich Vets.  The winners were S Dennis & N Halls with 42 pts, runners up ocb were M Gray & R Hollland with 40 pts.  The ball run down went to G Philp & D Wall 40 pts, M Kuhnemann & A Stick 39 pts, W Hill & B Brown and E Windolf & R Fitzgerald 38 pts.   Pin shots went to G Sharpe & K Kirgis while D Wall received the ladies.  The Encouragement Award went to D Dann & A Swift, while S Dennis received by Members Draw.   Boonah won the day with 194 while Ipswich had 184.  Next week will be a single stableford competition for the Veterans Open Day.  Reminder the Scenic Rim Vets Day will be at Canungra on September 7.  No golf in Boonah that day for course renovations.

Ladies:

Last Wednesday we played for Annette Geigers Memorial tray this was won by Vicki Bird who had a 71 net.  The runner up was Marg Kuhnemann with 75 net.  Other scores were Jan Edwards, Di Kuhnemann, Maureen Maynard, Kerry Cooper 76, Anna Tomlinson, Anne Brown 79, Kris Cook 80, Ellen Meagher 83, Nicki Mulligan 85.  The nearest the pins on 4/13 Ellen, 8/17 Vicki, the least putts went to Maureen, Jan and Di Kuhnemann.  Nicki got the accuracy shot.  On 23rd August there is a competition for seniors.  Two divisions, 55-60 and 70 and over. There will be a time sheet and would like as many players as possible as we would like this to be an annual event.  Next Wednesday is a stableford for Kris Cooks trophy.

Sporters

Wednesday the Sporters was sponsored by David Woolgar for the Wally Woolgar Trophy.  This was a stableford 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition.  The winner was T Russell with 30 pts, runner up M O’Reilly with 27 pts.  The ball run down went to D Forsyth &  B Sampson 26 pts followed by K Kirgis & A Gill with 24 pts.     Pin shots were received by M O’Reilly on 13, while T Alchin received 17. The Dugandan Dice winner was A Gill.  This week will be the Glenn Sippel Memorial sponsored by the QFS mates + D Forsyth playing a stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition.   Next week will be The Stan McCullough Memorial sponsored by G Eviston, playing a stableford 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition.

Friendly Friday:

Friendly Fridays’ had 17 players tee off playing a stableford front 9 competition.  The winner was K Kirgis with 22 pts ocb from runner up B Davey followed by C Wilson with 20 pts.  The ball run down went to M Weber & K Wilson 19 pts and M Hassan with 18 pts.  The pin shot was received by J Wilson while S Fahey received the NAGA.

Saturday

Saturday we played a stableford competition for the K & L Forsyth Memorial sponsored by the Forsyth families.    The Overall Winner was P Rabbit with 40 pts. The A Grade winner was I Browning with 38 pts, runner up B Beasley ocb with 37 pts.  B Grade winner was M Weber ocb from runner up A Hertweck with 35 pts, C Grade winner was J Grimsey with 37 pts, runner up T Britton with 35 pts ocb. The Ladies winner was K Cooper with 38 pts runner up, L Humphrey with 34 pts  The ball run down went A Gill 37 pts, G Philp, C Shannon & C Richardson with 35 pts, W Maudsley, W Gnech, B King, J Browning & B Gotke 34 pts and K Sawtelll, M Gnech, A Parker, S Edwards & E Meagher with 33 pts.  Pin shots were received by L Humphrey & B Gotke on 4/13, J  Baulch & B Gotke received 8/17 while A Gill received 9/18.  The Accurate Drive was won by L Blunt.  I Browning had an Eagle on the 15th. The Pro Pin on 4 sponsored by Drummond Golf is currently held by W Bird with 2.cm.  The Pro Pin on 17 is sponsored by Sugarloaf Bakery and currently held by B King with 1.78 m.  This week will be the Beasley Bash playing a stroke competition with a 12.30 shot gun pm start.  Next week will be Boonah Rotary Club Open Day playing a stableford competition.  This is a morning and afternoon shot gun start.

Pennants

Boonah lost to Toogoolawah playing at Sandy Gallop 3/2.  The winners were I Browning & K Milligan both 1 up.

Sunday

This Sunday we have a Social club using all the buggies in the Morning.  We are playing the Senior Championships in the afternoon.  If you are 55 or over you will qualify for these.  Check out our facebook page for further details. Social Play will not be available this week end.
