Golf Notes 9/9/19 – 15/9/19

Veterans:   Monday the Veterans had 17 players tee off for a stableford competition. The winner was A Stick with 39 pts, runner up R Stinson with 36 pts. The run down went to L Hooke 34 pts, R Fitzgerald 33 pts, followed by N Hooke & D Forsyth 32 pts and V Riley & M Hassan 31 pts. Pin Shots were received by R Fitzgerald & A Stick while L Hooke & K Cook received the ladies. The Members Draw was won by A Stick, while G Henderson received the Encouragement Award. Tomorrow is a stableford competition. Next week will be a stroke competition

Ladies:   Linda Edwards sponsored a memorial trophy day for her mum Gail Grimsey last Wednesday and the winner was Jan Edwards with 36 stableford points. Jo McAntee was runner-up with 33 on a countback from Linda Hooke. Other scores were Marg Kuhnemann and Meryl Tress 30, Vicki Bird and Kris Cook 29, Di Kuhnemann and Ellen Meagher 27, Jill Pfingst 23, Jan Baulch 20 and Nicki Mulligan 16. The money line winner was Di and Kris and Jo won pin shots. Wednesday we are playing for Vicki Bird’s trophy. Good golfing girls.

Sporters:   Wednesday was sponsored by Scenic Rim Landscaping Supplies playing a stroke 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition. The winner was R Eacott with 47 net, runner up was K Wilson with 48 net. The run down went to K Rhodes, S Edwards, M Hassan, S Fahey, J Handley & L Blunt all with 49 net. Pin shots were received by B Jacks on 13, H Perrem received 17 while S Fahey received 18. The Dugandan Dice winner was D Forsyth with 5 Aces. The best gross for the day was shared with K Wilson & S Fahey with 52 off the stick. This week will be sponsored by J Handley playing a stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition. Next week will be sponsored by S Edwards playing a stableford 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition.

Friendly Fridays:   The Friendly Fridays had 22 players tee off playing a stableford back 9 competition. The winner was T Lynch with 21 pts, runner up J Taylor with 20 pts followed by P Cooper with 18 pts ocb. The run down went to P King 18 pts, S Bailey 17 pts and J Handley, B Lawrance & K Rhodes with 16 pts. The pinshot was received by L Edwards. L Rhodes was awarded the NAGA.

Saturday:   Saturday was the Firies Open Day (Glenn Sippel Memorial). The Overall winner was A Brown with 42 pts. A Grade winner was B Beasley 39 pts, runner up B May 38 pts, followed by G Maynard & A Gill 37 pts and J Gurney 36 pts. The B Grade winner and Monthly Medal winner was R Philp with 41 pts, runner up R Humphrey 39 pts followed by J Taylor & A Parker 37 pts and K Sawtell with 35 pts. C Grade winner was D Ryan ocb from runner up T Richardson with 39 pts, followed by N Hooke & R Fitzgerald 37 pts and P Rabbitt 36 pts. The ladies winner was V Bird with 38 pts, runner up K Turner with 37 pts, followed by M Kuhnemann ocb from S Edwards with 36 pts and L Hooke 35 pts. The Social winner was R Dewar with 77 net, runner up R Anderson 78 net followed by P Stansfield 79 net. The run down went to 32 pts. Pin Shots were received by S Edwards on 1/10, 4/13 & 5/14, S O’Connell received 2/11, G Maynard received 3/12, B Beasley received both 4/13 & 8/17, D Ryan received 6/15, B May received 7/16, A Brown received 8/17 while J Beasley received 9/18. Sunday: Today we had both the Pennant teams have wins. The Division 1 defeated Gatton in Boonah 7½ – 1½. Division 2 defeated Ipswich at Ipswich 3½ – 1½.
