Golf Notes 27/8/18 – 2/9/18

Ladies
A good roll up of 12 players played for Jan Edward’s sponsored day last week and the winner was Anne Brown with the good score of 39 stableford points which also equalled the best gross for the year, 80 off the stick. Runner-up was Marg Kuhnemann 34, Jan Baulch and Jan Edwards 33, Maureen Maynard and Meryl Tress 31, Kris Cook, Di Kuhnemann and Ellen Meagher 28, Jo McAntee 25 and Jenny Briant 24. Lesley Rhodes also joined in for 9 holes. Jan Baulch was so so close to a hole in one on 4/13 and Anne won the pin shot on 8/17. Wednesday the girls are sponsored by The Fassifern Pharmacy and we thank them for their continued support of ladies golf. Next week Ellen is our sponsor and then the Picnic Parlour the following week. Friday 21st September Boonah Golf Club will be hosting the Brisbane District for the “Country Day” and we are expecting over 76 players from Brisbane clubs for a team competition followed by lunch. Boonah has 2 teams entered so good luck girls for that big day.
The final of the Beryl Drady Match Play was between Anne Brown (handicap 10) and Kris Cook (handicap 22) with Kris winning 6 up and 4 to play. Congratulations Kris, you played excellent golf.
If any lady out there are interested in “Having A Go” please contact the club on 5463 1470 as it is anticipated Friday mornings @ 9.00am will be designated as a “Come and Try” morning. Good golfing ladies and may all your putts drop in.
Sporters
Wednesday the Sporters was sponsored by G Eviston for the Stan McCullough Memorial Trophy. The winner was G Searle with 28 pts, runner up J Gillett ocb from M Hassan with 27 ps. The ball run down continued with M O’Reilly 26 pts, followed by D Forsyth, R Fitzgerald, G Gray & G Parker 24 pts. D Forsyth won the pin shot on 13, while S Fahey received both 17 & 18. The Dugie dice sponsored by the Dugandan Hotel was won by A Stick. This week will be sponsored by D Webster playing a stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition. Next week will be sponsored by Scenic Rim Landscaping Supplies playing a stroke 10 – 18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition.
Friendly Friday
Friendly Fridays had 15players tee off for a stroke 10 – 18 competition, for Big Money Day. The winner was R Eacott with 31 net, runner up K Reinholdsson with 32 net, followed by K Sawtell 33 net. The ball run down went to R Brooks 34 net, D Forsyth B Brown & M Hassan 35 net & G Philp 36 net. The pinshots were received by J McAntee, & J Handley while the NAGA was received by A Brown. The best gross for the day was received by R Eacott with 45 off the stick.
Saturday
Saturday was sponsored by Puma Aratula playing a stroke/monthly medal competition. The winner was J Handley ocb from runner up M Gnech with 66 net, followed by R Brooks with 67 net ocb. The ball run down went to D Gittins 67 net, M Simmonds & R Fitzgerald 68 net, M Simpson, S Francis & G Parker 69 net followed by M O’Reilly, J Yates & J Shine 70 net, W Gnech, G Philp & T Alchin 71 net, M Hassan, J Gillett, W Maudlsey, R Philp & G Ball 72 net and A Hertweck, J Robinson, S Fahey & D Forsyth 73 net. The Ladies winner was M Tress with 72 net, runner up Z Eviston 74 net. Pin Shots were received by G Philp & K Turner on 4/13, Z Eviston & T Gnech received 8/17 while S Fahey received 9/18. The pro pin on 4 is sponsored by Drummond Golf currently held by K Turner with 1.01m. The pro pin on 17 is sponsored by Sugarloaf Bakery and currently held by S Fahey with 3.85 m.
