Monday the Veterans travelled to Canungra for their Open Day.
Ladies
Thank you Di Vaughan for sponsoring our day last Wednesday. The best score was 38 stableford points by Stacey Edwards. She beat her “Nan” Jan who had 35. It was wonderful to see 3 generations of the Edwards family playing in the same competition. Stacey had 77 gross and her handicap of 7 will probably be less next week! Other scores were the consistent Ellen Meagher on 34, Jo McAntee and Maureen Maynard 33, Anne Brown 29, Linda Hooke and Jan Baulch 27, Linda Edwards 25 and welcome back to Vicki Bird who also had 25. Nikki Mulligan finished with 21 – a good score considering she has only been playing for a few weeks. Kris Cook needs some encouragement!!. Jan Baulch was nearest the pin on 8/17 and also had a chip in on 18; Linda Hooke won the pin shot on 1/10 and Stacey on 4/13. Today we play for Anne Brown’s trophy and it is the second round of the Consistency Cup which runs all year. Next week will be sponsored by Fran Licciardo. The nomination sheet for the Beryl Drady Match Play is up in the locker room. Entries close on 25th March and conditions of play are in the fixture book so put your name in girls. May all your putts fall in.
Sporters
Wednesday the Sporters was sponsored by W Gnech playing a stroke 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6. The winner was R Scells 43 net, runner up R Cuneo 48 net ocb from M Maudsley & B May. The run down continued with J Gillett 49 net. Pin shots were received by R Stinson on 13, B Beasley received 17 while A Stick received 18. The Dugandan Dice sponsored by the Dugandan Hotel was received by W Hall. This week will be sponsored by R Fitzgerald playing a stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15. Next week will be sponsored by D Forsyth playing a stableford 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6.
Friendly Friday
Friendly Fridays had 23 players tee of playing a stableford front 9 competition. The winner was F Hughes with 28 pts, runner up S Hughes 24 pts, followed by J McAntee 23 pts. The run down went R Brooks, C Shannon & D May 22 pts, M Hassan, R Eacott & G Lutter 20 pts followed by M Weber 19 pts. The pin shot was received by J McAntee & B May while the NAGA was received by M Crowther.
Saturday
Saturday was sponsored by the Brisbane Boys playing a stroke/monthly medal competition. The A Grade winner was B Beasley with 67 net, runner up T Grimshaw 68 net. The B Grade winner & Monthly Medal winner was S Francis 65 net, runner up S Edwards 69 net. The C Grade winner was D Francis with 67 net, runner up G Ball 69 net ocb. The Ladies winner was K Turner with 70 net, runner up D Wall 71 net ocb. The run down went to R Cuneo, D Mortimer, R Humphrey & G Kitchen 69 net, G Parker 70 net, followed by J Edwards, D Gittins, M Dickson & A Hertweck 71 net and T McCarthy, B Spranklin, R Brooks & R Philp 72 net. Pin shots were received by D Mortimer & A Brown on 4/13, T Grimshaw & D Wall received 8/17, while D Mortimer received 9/18. The Pro Pin on 4 sponsored by Drummond Golf is currently held by C McLean with 1.55m. The Pro Pin on 17 is sponsored by Sugarloaf Bakery and currently held by T Lynch with 3.5m. The Money Pin was received by P King. The Gross winners for the day were B Beasley & T Grimshaw with 71 off the stick. We also had a putting competition for the day which was won by D McLean ocb from J Gillett & J McAntee followed by D Wall.
